What are my options if I rejoin the LGPS before my deferred benefits are paid? You will begin to build up membership towards a new set of pension benefits, as well as your deferred benefits. You will usually have the option of keeping these two sets of benefits separate or linking them together. If you choose to link them, you will have one set of benefits which will be based on your entire period of LGPS membership and your final pay on leaving your new job. You normally only have 12 months from the date you rejoin the LGPS to choose to link your deferred benefits to your new membership, so you should contact us or your new LGPS administrator as soon as possible to find out about this and about the matters you will need to consider in making your decision. |
