Bath and North East Somerset Council, in its role as administering authority, has executive responsibility for the Fund. The Council delegates its responsibility for administering the Fund to the Avon Pension Fund Committee which is the formal decision making body for the Fund.

The Avon Pension Fund Committee meets quarterly, with special meetings and workshops arranged as necessary. Membership of the Committee includes representatives of employing bodies and scheme members as well as two independent trustees.

The Avon Pension Fund Committee has an Investment Panel to consider matters relating to the management and investment of the assets of the Fund and advise the main Committee on such matters. The Panel is not a decision-making body. Instead it makes recommendations to the main Committee.

Both the Committee and the Investment Panel are supported by an Investment Consultant and an Independent Investment Advisor, as well as Officers.

In the case of investments, all decisions of a strategic nature are taken by the Avon Pension Fund Committee, however the day-to-day functions of investment management and custody are outsourced. Decisions regarding routine benefits administration are generally taken by Officers on the Committee's behalf.

Upcoming meeting dates of the Avon Pension Fund Committee are set out below. There are arrangements in place for the public, including employing bodies and members of the Avon Pension Fund, to make representations to the Committee and/or the Investment Panel, by giving written notice (at least two working days in advance) that they wish to ask a question or raise an issue at the Committee or Investment Panel meeting.
